Audio Out of Sync with Video

Hello Everyone,
I am attempting to create blu-ray discs from some old lecture clips (mp4 format), which I have lost the original source videos. I'm using Vegas Pro 12.0 and DVD Architect Pro 6.0 products for the project. The rendering templates of my choice are "DVD Architect NTSC 24p video stream" and "Dolby Digital Pro AC-3" (dreaming of producing a "picture perfect" discs).

First attempt:
1) Rendered the Vegas Pro video project with the DVDA NTSC 24p video stream template
2) Rendered the audio component with the Dolby Digital Pro AC-3 template.
3) Exported the output .mpg file(the .ac3 file was included implicitly) into a DVDA 6.0 project.
Ran a series of verification tests with the DVDA project(Preview) and all was fine each time; the audio always was in sync with the video.

I then proceeded to burn a sample blu-ray disc for the final verification:
1) No errors were reported
2) Disc played normally on LG 390 BD player
3) Video quality excellent (could read equations on the chalk board few feet away from TV)
BUT...
4) Audio was lacking behind the video by a few seconds (guess by 2 to 3 seconds).

I then tried playing the iso file with CyperLink PowerDVD Ultra and VLC Media Player software products and received the same result: audio out of sync with video

Does anyone know which of the three is the culprit, Vegas Pro, DVDA Pro or the human? (My suspicion is on the DVDA, but don't know enough to prove.)

I would kindly appreciate any help.

Use MediaInfo to report your source video properties.
You are using a BluRay video template, not DVD, right?

Hi,

I'm assuming I first have to find and install a copy this MediaInfo application/product, because I couldn't locate the app on my workstation. I will work on that.

I'm using the progressive version of the DVD Architect NTSC video stream template under the MainConcept MPEG-2 group; it reads "DVD Architect 24p NTSC video stream". ..
I had previously used the "DVD Architect NTSC video stream" template to render the same project and produced a blu-ray that played acceptably on my blu-ray disc player. I just want to improve the picture quality.

Thank you for the reply. I will work on preparing the source video properties (You do mean the mp4 files, right? I don't have the original source; I lost the originals in 2009.)

I hope the above is the information you need to help resolve my problem. I checked the properties of a sample number of the clips with the mediainfo and the outputs were the same as above with the exception of filename, size and duration.

Thank you very much.

When Rendering Video to either MPEG-2 or AVC in Vegas (for use in DVD Architect):
Choose "DVD Architect xxxxx video stream" template to make a standard DVD.
Choose "Blu-ray xxxx video stream" template for, wait for it...., Blu-ray.

Thank you ChristoC for the information.

I do have a couple of questions, though: 1) Was the wrong choice of storage media the cause of the audio/video out of synchronization? 2) Why these templates(DVDA NTSC video stream and Program stream NTSC) do not cause audio/video synchronization problem with blu-ray format? - The DVDA NTSC 24p video stream output previews perfectly on DVDA Archiect Pro with no errors or even warnings.

I had rendered the Vegas project with a blu-ray template and burned the m2v file to a bd, but the video seemed "stretched" horizontally (sot of "letterbox"). So I tried a few different templates and found that the DVD Architect NTSC video stream and Program stream NTSC would produce mpg format files acceptable for blu-ray burning - I just wanted to improve the video quality a little (with 4:3 aspect ratio).

Also, my reason for choosing BD format over DVD is that the video consists of two semesters of lectures; over 75 clips (I wish I hadn't lost the original 2006/2007 recordings).

Sorry I don't know.
I just know you have to follow the rules, and if you don't, the permutations of possibilities are endless......
Seems you need to choose the correct aspect ratio for your purposes, possibly edit (and save) one of the templates to suit your desired result.
