Remove the effects from the chain*. Right-mouse-button click on the track header, choose "Set default track properties". Select only "Track FX"** under audio track properties. Click OK

*Or include any set of effects that you

**Or any other settings that you wish to have stored as defaults.

Kelly - Sorry, but it doesn't work. If I follow your instructions, any time I add a new track to the project, it still comes in with noise gate, compressor, and eq still checked.

Vaguely I seem to remember that Vegas will not let you remove everything. Try to leave just one FX and see what happens.

I any case, you can not save settings of the FX this way. For that you will have to use an FX package. Installing that will replace the FXs already on your track head.

That's odd. It works fine for me, even removing everything. I just tried it again to make sure. Maybe it's only effective after the next time you start Vegas.

I believe that although these 3 audio FX are automatically set-up on the audio track, they are not actually active (they are ticked as being on but none of the preset settings for those FX are chosen and so there is no change being applied to the signal passing through).

At least, that's what my ears tell me when I switch them 'off' or remove them one-by-one.

I used to religiously remove them all but now I leave them as they are as invariably one of them will be needed later on in the final mix.
