Audio proxy files- why truncate them?

capnjosh wrote on 10/24/2001, 2:02 PM
Why does the following occur, and is there any way to prevent it:
"The audio proxy file has been trucated at the point where the audio stream format changed for the following media file..."
I have found this seems to occur more often than I am prepared to deal with. There were no changes to camera settings in all the cases of footage captured.

Hey Josh,

I am having the same problem and it is EXTREMELY annoying. It seems
to happen intermittantly. Sometimes if I recapture the file it will work, but
not always. I have sent an E-Mail to tech support. Hopefully they will have
a fix or workaround for it.

The problem is almost certainly a change of audio bitrate in the middle of a capture.

You could download the VideoFactory2 demo (free) from our website, and try recapturing the problem clip. An updated version of VideoCapture comes with VF2 (version 2.5a), and that should fix the problem (a new file is created when the audio format changes during capture).

... but I am seeing the same problem from an AVI file generated from another product, PowerDirector. I can't get pass this one right now since I can recapture the video again.
Any other suggestion.

BTW, PowerDirector does not seem to have any problem handling this avi file at all.

Thanks,
Roberto
