Audio record problem

I'll move this from my other thread

I thought I'd record my guide voice tracks straight into VV rather than through another package. I keep getting errors when I arm the audio track.

Under Preferences/Audio Device I can select
1 Microsoft Sound Mapper
2 Direct Sound Surround Mapper
3 Windows Classic Wave Driver

Options 1 and 3 give the message
"An error occurred while recording. An unsupported media type was requested"
Option 2 gives:
"An error occurred while recording. Error 0x88780032 (message missing)"
Option 3 seems to select the Soundlaster Live card I have in the machine, but none of the device options will let me record.

I had the same problem in my other machine in Acid 4.0 with the same Live! card (which I am starting to think is a pile of crap).

Any thoughts on this one guys? Get a better card? If so, what?

Cheers

I think this happens because Vegas is trying to record 48 kHz through a card that can only (or is set up to) record 44.1. Could be the other way round too, but that's more unlikely. Set Vegas to record in 44.1 and see what happens. OR set your soundcard to work at 48 kHz.

Hmm - couldn't find anywhere to set that (it's usually set within the app).

Anyway - I went back into Vegas to have a mess around and it is working fine now. This is after a reboot so maybe RAM was getting low before or something ...

Weird. Anyway - fixed now for whatever reason :-)
