Audio Recording Requirements

Hi All.
I've been a Vegas user for a year now, but primarily for video. So please forgive me for the newbie question!

I need to know what is required to have the capability of plugging in various audio sources into my PC and using Vegas for mixing. I want to be able to plug in an XLR, balanced lines, etc.

So I need some recommendations on hardware, sound cards, etc.

Thanks!

Jamie

There are a ton of options depending on what kind of conenction you need, how many tracks, how high of quality, etc. Low end, but useable sound cards include the Soundblaster series. Remember that "CD Quality" audio is 16-bit, 44.1kHz...so I wouldn't buy a card that couldn't support at least that.

Check out www.prorec.com and search for sound cards. Rob
