audio replacement

thanks everyone for the help on my last question, multiple events. worked!
I have a soundtrack that has an odd, loud noise every few seconds. without affecting the video, I want to copy a small portion of audio from elsewhere on the soundtrack audio event and pasted it "over" the offending portion so it replaces the loud noise. I don't want to minimize the loud noise as it gives the effect of turning the background sound up and down. If I can replace those few seconds with a steady noise portion from elsewhere in the event, it will sound wonderful. any suggestions how to accomplish this. I've been able to copy a small portion of audio event, but I do not know how to paste it "over" the offending part.

thanks
RL

Paste it the same way you would add any new event to the timeline ... drag i where you want it. If you place it on top of the existing audio so that the existing audio still continues to the left and right of it, it will replace the existing audio.

It might be helpful to turn off ripple editing while doing this to make sure that nothing else gets moved around.
