Audio Sync Issues-Again

I was hired to do a wedding about a week ago and I'm working on editing it now. I got a copy of the recording from the soundboard because that is, of course, a lot better quality then the sound I get from the camera microphone. I would plug right into the camera, but it has no mic input (Sony DCR-HC90). Well, I recorded the audio off the CD and the video from the camera...guess what?! The clocks were off. I sync up the beginnings and by then end of the wedding, the audio from the recording is 1 minute and 40 seconds off from the video.

I tried ctrl-draging to get the ends aligned...so now the beginning and end are in sync, but the middle is out of sync. AHHHHHHHHHH. Help! Is there anyway to fix this? (Besides going through and sync up every minute or so of video.)

It looks like the hard way prevails again!

I don't know of an easy way to fix this problem. It looks like you will have to find points that do sync up (looking at the waveforms) and cut and space out the audio from the sound board. There is not always sound during every minute in weddings, so this is not as hard of a task as it might appear on the front end. Find an obvious pause and cut the sound board sound and reponsition the following event to sync up with the camera audio. Once you have all the sound board audio in sync with the camera audio delete it, or lower the volume substantially so that there is not a clear break in the audio as there will always be some sound.

Well...I found the problem...

The original audio was recorded to audio cassette and then transferred to CD...which I think would probably account for the wierd clock issues.

But at any rate, jrazz was right-there were a lot of silent points in the wedding where I could cut and space-so it wasn't that bad. But it took a lot longer than I had hoped and didn't do my homework...that's a shame. :)
