Audio Sync Problem after Rendering

I'm having audio sync problems....

When in Vegas 6, my audio-dialogue syncs perfectly--just as it was shot. After rendering both the video (mpeg 2 for DVDA Stream) and Audio (as AC3) in Vegas, I bring the file into my dvd project in Architect 3.

When previewing project (the footage) on the preview ( NTSC Sony) monitor, the audio-dialogue is off by about a second.
What in the world am I doing wrong?

1. How is the sync if you preview just on your PC?
2. Where is the audio being played (on the PC or on the monitor)? If the monitor, what kind of connection is used?

It's possibly just a matter of a lag between the audio preview and the video preview. Try previewing only on your PC, or better yet, burn a DVD-RW and test it out in a player. If we then know for sure that the sync is off, we can figure out why. And if it is, is it a constant difference (starts out 1 second off, still one second off at the end of the video) or a drifting one (finishes even more out of sync than it started out...or less)?

Okay. Previewing only within DVD-Architect produces no sync issues, but when i use the Sony NTSC preview monitor I get a slight lag. And this is within DVD Architect 3.0.

Is that normal? In a day or two I will produce a dvd and report on what happened with the audio. i don't know why I'm getting a lag.

That's why I asked the questions I did. I don't use an external monitor, but someone who does could probably help you pinpoint where the lag is happening if they know what your audio setup is like. And maybe how to alter your setup so there's no lag.

If your video is lagging your audio, then yes, it's normal. Sending the compressed video stream out the firewire connection to be decoded by the external monitor is going to result in a slight delay compared with sending audio directly to your sound card.
