Audio Track Length Is wrong size

When I open a MP4 file In Vegas Movie Studio 17.0 the program is messing with the original length of the audio track to make it match the video track. Is there any way to stop this?

if the video is of smartphone variable frame rate what you want VMS to do?

The video is one I downloaded from the internet in mp4 format. The sound file is compressed and I need it to import intact so I can fix it. Currently It is imported and the length is being adjusted which I don't want.

Possibly a problem with the file. If you know how long the audio stream should be then ungroup it from the video and stretch/shrink to the correct length.
