On the last video I did there was a piece that had to slow to a stop like a record on a turntable that was unplugged then pick up again as it was plugged in. But I ended up doing this in Adobe Audition because I couldn't figure out how to do it in Vegas..... if it can do it at all.

I would have thought that this would be a common problem. Audio pause for emphasis is common, how are the other guys handling it in Vegas?


often I just split the audio and stretch the part that I need but this takes time. I need the audio to come to a grinding halt : not drawn out: and then hit off at normal pitch

I have Audition will give it a go…so I suppose I would put some markers down count the time between markers in Vegas
And try to match in Audition..drop in Vegas and hope for the best

A user on the Cow Vegas forum posted a link to a free VST plugin called TapeStop (link is to a zipped file).
Apparently you'll need to automate it twice - once for the slowdown, and once for the speedup..
I haven't used it but it said it worked great for his needs.

I can hear its effect in realtime, when I engage it while playing an audio clip on the Sony timeline. But I can't figure out how to SAVE the slowed-down/sped-up audio. No clue in the readme file that comes with the plugin, unless I'm just missing something...

Wouldn't you render the finished output ... just as with any other effect?

I should have mentioned in my first post that yes, I did render the relevant clip. In the preview timeline, I could hear the slowing-down; in the rendered clip, there's only silence.

Perhaps this has something to do with "Audio FX Automation", with which I'm not very experienced... I simply tried rendering the same clip that I heard affected in the timeline, with rather confusing results.

Must be missing something...

OK but I am missing the boat…it’s a dll file so what do I do with the dll?
It doesn’t run as a script so how do I apply the dll in Vegas?

Rory, it's a VST plugin so drop the dll into your Vegas VST folder, wherever that may happen to be.
In my case, it's C:\Program Files\Vstplugins but it can be anywhere you want.
Then go Options - Prefs - VST Effects in Vegas to refresh the list.
Once a clip is on the timeline, click the Track FX icon on the Track header, choose this FX from the VST folder and start experimenting with it.
Please note that I haven't used it myself yet.
I just remembered reading about it and thought I'd pass along the info.
