audio/video not in sync in VMS 8 Platinum

I downloaded a flash video off the Interwebs. I used Super to covert it so I can import it into Sony VMS. It is now a MPEG-II video. When I use VLC or Windows Media Player to play the new MPEG-II video, the audio and video are in sync. After I import the same video into VMS 8 Platinum, without doing anything else, the audio and video are out of sync. They are off by 8-10 seconds. It's hard to tell if it gets worse later in the clip or not, but it's off by a bunch right away.

Is there anything I can do about this? Why would the video play fine outside of VMS but when I drag it into VMS, it's out of sync. Because of this I'm thinking it's not a problem when I used Super to convert to something VMS can use.

One other weird thing, but I don't really think it's a problem.....when the video is in the timeline, there are a bunch of red frames shown on the timeline. But, when actually played, it shows up fine in the preview window. In case that gives clues to the syncing problem.

Thanks for listening.

Vegas has a bug with DVD-style formats, they're often in A/V unsync. This is evident by the many reports here that people have A/V sync issues when they import a DVD. Use another format.

Thanks for the reply. I've tried creating an .avi in Super, but VMS won't let me import it....it doesn't do anything.

Do you have suggestions what settings to use in Super to get a good import?

Or, should I be using something other than Super?

If the error is consistent from beginning to end then simply click on the clip, press U to ungroup the audio from the video, and slide the either the audio or video left or right to put them back in sync.

If the sync changes gradually but consistently from beginning to end then sync the beginning first. Ctrl-drag the end of the audio to shrink or stretch it until the it's in sync with the end of the video.

After it's in sync select both the audio and video and press G to group them back together.

Though VMS was not able to import the .avi, I was able to use Super to convert the flash movie to a Windows Media, which did work OK in VMS.

Thanks for the help.
