Audio way out of sync in DVDA

Hello again..

I've just noticed that my DVD's have some sync issues. The clips (mpeg2 mov's) seem fine outside of DVDA, yet bringing them in, some of them have major sync issues (audio is several seconds late). Some clips are worse than others.

Even previewing them in the browser without importing them, the sync issues show up, even though the same clips play fine outside of DVDA.

Loaded into AfterEffects, the mpeg2 mov's also show the lack of sync (audio late by a second)... yet they play fine outside...

One possible clue... Often, the audio and video tracks of the imported mpeg2 mov's are not equal lengths. Audio appears to actually start right away (waveform exists on first frame).

Another possibility... I'm starting to suspect that the audio or video is not playing at the intended speed? It's quite possible that the audio is stretched (though I'm not sure how)... I lined up the start of one clip (audio and video now in sync at the start), and it was WAY off by the time it got towards the end.

The clips were created/converted from .flv files. Maybe I had the settings wrong? (...though it should still all be rendered locked together)
Any theories and/or suggestions?

you need to saw how you rendered them from vegas (or whatever you used), what format you rendered them to & how you noticed they're not synced (playing in a DVD player, computer, etc).

They were originally .flv's, and I converted them to mpeg2's using 'Prism Video Converter'.

Watching them in DVDA, Vegas and AfterEffects, I see that the audio is late (on some of the clips).

Brought it into AfterEffects, put it on two layers... turned the audio off on one, and the video off on the other (so I end up with a separate audio and video track), lined up an obvious sync point (door slam, etc) at the start, then checked the sync at the end of the clip (which was off by several seconds.... So, I'm assuming that, for whatever reason, the audio gets stretched when imported into an editor (...which makes no sense, but there you go....). Playing the original .flv and the converted mpeg2 files outside of these programs (using and .flv player and windows media player) shows perfect sync... So, I'm very puzzled from a technical standpoint.

vegas/dvda don't change the audio length. what's the specs for the audio? If you're using a DV setup it should be 48khz stereo 16-bit wav's.

Here's the settings I had for the conversion:

MPEG2 (DVD Standard)
Video:
Average bitrate: 4000
Maximum bitrate: 9000
Audio:
Sample rate: 48000
Bitrate: 192

Clips also scaled up from 320x240 to 720x480, and the frame rate set to 29.97 (....I'm not sure what the original fps is, since they were .flv files, and the player doesn't indicate it)

could be the converter messed up changing from the flash to a DV file. I've had good luck with super converting flash files, maybe give that a try.

Ya, I'd love to try that software, but I can't get to the download page. I followed the download guide, clicking on the links they indicated, but the last link doesn't take me to the third screen... just goes back to the first one again. They claim this may be a javascript thing, but I don't seem to be blocking anything on my side.

Kind of frustrating that they don't just have a simple download button. They have all this stuff on their pages about 'What are you waiting for?!' and 'Download it now!'.... and I'm like, "Ya, I'd really like to... Where's the $#%& download button?!"

Would you be able to give me a direct link to the third (actual) download page? I tried it again now, and I still can't get to that page.

ACTUALLY.... Nevermind... I was suspicious of the site/software, and even more so after reading a whole page full of reports of it being spyware.

I'll probably look into paid converters... I certainly don' t mind paying for one if it's good. Any suggestions?

try this link: http://www.erightsoft.info/GetFile.php?SUPERsetup.exe

they do make it a pain to download, but it's the best media converter I've ever used!
