Audio will not open/import with video clip

AmazingM wrote on 4/19/2021, 2:46 AM

HiYa everyone, I am hoping to get some some assistance for my issue.

So, I can play the video file with perfect audio (sound) coming out in both Windows Movie & TV and MediaPlayer apps but when I import into Vegas Pro 18 (build 482) all I get is just the video.... no audio wave...

The clip is a VHS captured with my BM Intensity Pro via an analog to HDMI converter.

I have tried renaming the "compoundplug" folder trick as seen on Youtube but that did not fix my issue:-(

See if there is an option to configure the Intesity Pro to use 16 bit audio instead of 24 bit or use a completely different capture format.

Hi Marco, thanks for your assistance.
There are other options in the BM Media Express app to capture ie 8bit and 10bit yuv (that I have tried) but they do not capture VHS. The only format that works is MJPEG. I am unable to change 24 bit too.

Then you'd probably need to either demux video and audio and import both streams separately into Vegas Pro or transcode to a different format.

As Marco stated, Vegas will not import 24bit audio muxed with video, but you can use a program such as VirtualDub to save the audio (as 24bit) and import it into Vegas.

Thanks for you help. Can you kindly recommend any other demux apps.

Virtualdub and AVIDemux are the only two I am familiar with.

If you are a bit familiar with FFmpeg, a simple script could also do this. Or if you use Vegasaur, that's another choice. Or you could use HOS (Happy Otter Scripts) to transform the clips with the ImportAssist tool.
