Audio with video capture

I'm new to MS3 and have hit a wall. I'm doing a movie of my son's wedding. The problem is I can't capture the audio portion of the video. I've tried capturing it via the old analog VCR Panasonic camcorder we used to video the wedding. I've also tried getting it off a DVD disc that I had done to transfer the analog to digital. I have no problem capturing the video portion from either one and the audio seems to be recording, but there are no sound waves and no audio is heard in the preview playback. I have no problem capturing music off a CD. Any ideas?

I don't know about the analog capture, but the problem with the DVD may be that the audio's been recorded as AC-3, which MS can't handle. This thread might help.

Thanks Ian,
Actually, it turned out to be a very problem. But it took my tech guy 1 1/2 hours to figure it out. My default sound card is SB Audigy Audio (BC 00). The MS version I have funtions on Pinnacle DVC 80 Audio. When my tech realized under the Audio tab in the device capture was set at SB Audigy rather than Pinnacle DVC 80 he selected Pinnacle and the problem was solved. It ended up costing me $75 bucks for him to find and correct. A $99 program with a $75 fix. Frustrating, but now I'm on my way.
