Interesting...

After exchanges of several messages with the developer Joelson today, I purchased it. It is indeed an impressive piece of software (behind which, I am certain, how greatly Whisper works). I don't mean to be rude to VEGAS developers but I find Joelson's Auto Captions for VEGAS far more impressive than VEGAS's built-in "speech to text" function at this time.

PC 1: ASUS ROG Strix B-760i Gaming Wifi, 64GB RAM (DDR5), i5 14600K, 2TB M2.SSD, ASUS RTX-4070 (12GB), Windows 11 Pro Version 23H2

PC 2: ASUS Prime H570-PLUS MB, 32GB RAM, i7-10700K, 1TB SSD (M.2), 8TB HD, NVidia RTX3080 10GB, Windows 11 Home 23H2 (22631.3593)

I am also using it.. Quite amazing piece of software.

I’ll be adding the Recognize Different Speakers feature soon. Here’s a quick demo of how it works. I’m currently testing and refining the feature.

I’m also working on a general UI update to reflect the Vegas color scheme and support for high DPI monitors.

I would like to give a special thanks to our users in Japan who have been giving us great feedback with suggestions for improvements and new feature development.

RogerS wrote on 11/30/2024, 6:50 AM

Wow, this is really impressive. I didn't think Whisper had a multiple speaker feature. It's also hit or miss with Japanese so curious how they are using it.

@joelsonforte.br You have done an incredible job with this handy add-on....

I use Batch Whisper a lot for my audio restorations in Vegas. I will be eager to try this out.

Auto Captions v2.0.2 Updated

Note: Anyone who already has Auto Captions for Vegas installed, must completely uninstall the previous version before installing the new version. After installing the new version, restart Windows according to the Tutorial 01 (Installation) in the Tutorial folder.

New Features:
1.The "Quantize to Frames" option was added when importing text events.

2.The name of the generated files is now automatic. If the user does not define a name for the generated files, the original file names will be used. However, I have kept the option for the user to define the name of the generated files if desired.

3.New transcription end sound. The user can also customize or disable the transcription end sound."

4.The settings chosen in the Auto Captions Generator (ACG) are now saved in memory, so there is no longer a need to redo the settings every time you run the ACG.

5.New ACG Reset Settings option that restores the Auto Captions Generator settings to their original default.

I wish everyone a Merry Christmas!

How do I uninstall the previous version? I don't see it in add/remove programs.

@RogerS Just go to Control Panel and uninstall the program as usual. If for some reason the uninstaller does not appear in the Control Panel, go to the location where the program is installed and run the uninstaller. See my screen recording.

RogerS wrote on 12/25/2024, 12:51 AM

Thanks, that helped. Before I couldn't find it in control panel/ add or remove programs. Now it's there.

I also wasn't expecting the install location to be C:\Installed Programs but now I know where to look for it. Great work; these quality of life fixes like saving the previous settings and quantizing make a big difference.

Steve_Rhoden wrote on 1/28/2025, 10:54 AM

@joelsonforte.br Great addition.... Will be even better when you integrate it within the installer.

RogerS wrote on 2/2/2025, 6:58 AM

Is it possible to increment the version number when you make changes? I realized my desktop was on an older version even though it says 2.0.2.

joelsonforte.br wrote on 2/2/2025, 9:00 AM

@RogerS I didn't understand what you meant. The only places where the version number is provided are the "About Auto Captions" option and in the Windows uninstaller."

Anyway, I'm working on the next update (v2.0.3) and I can see what can be improved.

RogerS wrote on 2/2/2025, 9:11 AM

I was just asking if when you make updates, even minor, that the build number could be increased to make it unique. Looking in Windows Installed Apps (add/remove programs), it just says 2.0.2 but has it stayed the same since it was released?

I thought the prior version had a few minor fixes that were all the same version number.

joelsonforte.br wrote on 2/2/2025, 9:31 AM

In the update I’m working on, there will be a Changelog like this so that the user can have all the information about the update

There will also be automatic update checks that will display a message whenever a new update is available.

Additionally, there will be an option for the user to check for updates whenever they wish.

RogerS wrote on 2/2/2025, 9:35 AM

These look like great additions! It's an excellent program.

RogerS wrote on 2/2/2025, 8:54 PM

One idea for a feature request is a reset to defaults button on the main window. I changed the line length and then forgot what the original one was (40 I believe) but there was no way to easily put it back in that window (think you have to go to the toolbar).

joelsonforte.br wrote on 2/2/2025, 9:12 PM

See the screenshot in the previous comment. I have already created this option. It is called: Auto Captions Reset Settings. Too It will be available in the next update.

Brother, a couple of hours ago I just discovered your program or plugin and I sent you an email mentioning some things, I hope you can read it, greetings.

Julius_ wrote on 2/18/2025, 12:32 PM

Can this software highlight the words as they are spoken?
And the words that are being hilted, can the font be automatically larger when hilted and spoken?

joelsonforte.br wrote on 2/18/2025, 4:06 PM

@Manuel-CernaSnchez I answered all your questions via email.
