Auto Crossfade Multiple Jpeg's

I have been trying to add about 50 Jpeg's to the timeline all at once so that there would be an auto crossfades between each pictute but have failed to get this done. I have the the autocrossfade button pressed down on the titlebar as well as under options>preferances >editing to automatically overlap selected media when added. Does this option only work with avi files or is there some other place that I have to set things before this will work?

I have since dragged some of the stills to timeline one at a time but this means that the transition time each can very.

Next question is even if I can get all of the pictures automatically crossfaded I know that I can change each crossfade to a transition. Can multiple crossfades be changed to a transition all at once so that I would not have to open the transition option for each seperate crossfade. Is it possible to do somthing like selecting clips 4, 8, 12 16 etc & drop one sort of transition & then go back to drop a differant transition on clips 4,9,13,17 etc. Or even better let the system just apply them at random to all selected clips.

You should be able to set a length of default still image in the Options>prefs>editing, and then set a transition there. Autocrossfade button depressed. Be sure your transition length isn't more than half the length of each image.
Then grab images as a group from the explorer, drag to timeline as one group, this should autocrossfade for you.
Vegas doesn't have a randomizer for transitions, but I believe I saw a script for this somewhere.
Either way, there is perhaps something not being done correctly or you may need a reinstall. I'd doubt the install though...
