Select a region of the track where you want to punch in at
Create and event there.
Adjust the size of the event for you recording.

Repeat this as many time as you want.
Select the event(s).
Arm the track for record.

Recording will only occur in the selected events.

You can even set up a loop around these events and record
multiple takes into each selected event.

Will this do?
