Auto Ripple Cut Issue

Hello there

 

When you have a video with more than 1 audio (for example: 1 video 🥛 with 3 tracks 👭) and you want to cut (remove) part of 1 of the tracks, the others will jump on time back as your deleted track was; And it can move a marker

I want that when I remove ungrouped audio from a fragment, the remaining fragment tracks (and marker) do not move, because the fragment is already good placed (before Del button hit), I hope this makes sense 👍

 

Also 2 miscs:

  • as you saw on the video "diff/offset time calculator of ungrouped audio is lagging"
  • the X (close app) button does not reacting when you move your mouse pointer straight to top-right corner of the screen, I assume the 23 vegas has a 1px border 😢

If you don't want Auto Ripple to apply when making a cut, turn Auto Ripple off (and on as well) by using your choice of:

  • Ctrl-L; or
  • the Auto Ripple button in the Timeline Toolbar (under the timeline), or
  • via the Ripple menu selection in the Options menu.

The Auto Ripple button and the Options menu both offer a choice of which tracks are affected when Auto Ripple is activated.

If you don't want any following events/markers moving after a delete action, you need to turn Auto Ripple off. You can always turn Auto Ripple back on after the delete action.

@VVV I was going to say you can't have both but that's not quite true ... Click the ▽ next to the Auto Ripple button & that will give some options.

You want to use Auto Ripple but are complaining saying it needs fixing because it moves the objects on the track! - IE. It auto ripples, your comment doesn't make sense, it's not broken.. You chose auto ripple & it auto rippled!

Have you check the video? This functionality moves fragments on the track even when it's not should, do you think that every time I press Delete on a video, it moves all the fragments fairly/humanly? Unfortunately, I don't think so

One more Misc/Related bug:

  • You are not able to UnStuck the fragments while they have same "start_at timing" with AutoRipple enabled

This is AUTO Ripple

Auto doesn't equal Stupid, for me: it means some kind of behavior, IE some basic checks implemented by the dev, so we get the functionality we can work with

 

Right now, with the described problems, the AUTO feature MUST be disabled BECAUSE IT BLOCKS from the progress;

Specifically: with enabled auto-ripple, you can't move different tracks apart if they have the same start_at timing (independent groups)

 

But the main reason, the problem, is that when you want to remove 1 audio from a group of a fragment of a source, which already has its own position (I don’t want to say that it should be the isTouched boolean), you make unGroup and by removing part of the fragment, this very fragment moves by its own length

 

So, the autoripple should look at what you are deleting, if there is already another track at the current start_at position (same fragment, same cut/duration_of_source, same group in past) from which you are deleting, then it don't need to move it

Vegas understands track offset (end of 0:15 video), so it can even handle the behavior described above - even it have no same start_at pos

And it also should skip moving fragment1 on same start_at position when you moving fragment2 with same start_at pos.. and frag1 & frag2 are not in the same group (There was a reason these groups were created, right?)

btw, Feature request, it would be great if you could also drag the markers and move everything behind the marker (tracks, etc.)
