AVCHD Camera not recognized

My sony HDR JR10E AVCHD camcorder is connected to my computer. The computer recognizes it. (I can browse to it etc) But in Vegas Movie Sudio Platinum 11, build 295 the device explorer says: no device connected.
I tried restrating the computer, disconnecting and reconnecting the camera.
What can I do?

Copy the files from the camcorder to the hard drive and import from there.

Can you confirm how you connected it to the computer? Also, was Vegas already loaded when you connected it?
