AVCHD Handing in Vegas Pro 8 VS Vegas MS Plat. 9

I just upgraded from MS Plat Pro 9 to Vegas Pro 8 and noticed that Pro 8 doesn't seem to handle AVCHD files as well--at least I could use the Good preview setting in MS, whereas I have to use Preview in Pro 8. Has anyone else noticed this?

I was also wondering if VP 8 has a memory leak, it takes my computer a lot longer to shut down after running it than it does when I don't open Vegas.

I suppose AVCHD support will only get better with time, but it it is a bit frustrating. Using AVCHD Upshift helps a little, but not as much as I'd hoped. What other transcoding are people using to help with this?

Yes, working on 32 bit XP here, so I'm using 8.0c.
