"So how about jumping off your high horse and giving us all some relevant info."

I'm not on a hight horse and I'm certainly not on a "tirade". I merely pointed out that FCP CAN'T do native avchd editing at all and you start getting all defensive.

How about YOU giving us some relevant info?? How about talking the topic at hand... which is Vegas and avchd editing. When did ANYBODY ask about FCP?? You go off on some sort of tangent about a whole other product and then tell me I'm not talking relevance? Yeah... high horses here... but I'm not the one on it.

OK Blink relevance then.

Vegas replay of native AVCHD is jerky and intermittent and not something to be attempted with the current version of Vegas and hardware.

Conversion with CINEFORM, AVCHD Upshift from VAAST and similar third party software can overcome this problem at the cost of additional time and hard disk space.

If neither of these is a concern then Vegas is a easily learnt and powerful semi professional NLE with amazing audio facilities that aren't matched by any other video editing platform.

Fantastic, particularly if you don't need to interface with other broadcast and professional users who work on commonly used professional NLEs.

Enough positive spin Blink? I didn't even get defensive or ask you for positive input ..lol!

Now this is good! It's a start anyway... although you could have left out that part about interfacing. I think all that use Vegas in the pro arena know that there are only really 2 nle's that count when you get to the broadcast level.... so it sounds more like you're trying to put vegas in its place rather than give it a "positive spin"

But we can also talk about other vegas related routes like upshift and gearshift. I don't have much experience with these (as said, I use native avchd or cineform) but I know there are those who use these and feel satisfied.

No just qualifying the end user application... I use AVCHD as my shooting format to go to broadcast via output to HDCAM... couldn't afford the outlay on the more expensive cameras like the EX1 and got a great deal on a Panasonic HMC-152EN before the after Christmas price rise.

I have GEARSHIFT and the amount of time it took to convert the AVCHD was what made me look elsewhere, not the end result itself. I just don't have the time to waste that it took to do the conversion.

as said, I use native avchd

Do you get smooth replay of AVCHD in native form?

I love Vegas... I'd just love it more if I could still reliably use it with AVCHD or a format quickly and easily converted from AVCHD on import into Vegas, a la FCP... so I'll keep pushing my barrow until I can!!!
