AVCHD to DNXHD: 4 times the size??

Hello all

another Avid question - after transcoding my original Canon files to DNxHD, they have gone from 13 gig to 49 gig..!? Does that make sense? Just wonderin'...

It is all based on the bitrate. Use Mediainfo and compare the bitrate of the AVCHD files to the DNX files.

Yes, that makes sense, although they may not need to be that large. What DNxHD encode settings did you use?

AVCHD is interframe compression.
DNxHD is intraframe compression.
Only time that would not make a huge difference is with a still image.
