My question is can Vegas 8 convert AVCHD format to regular DVD.
I went to Italy in the summer for a family reunion and recored everthing in HD and when i got home i transfered it to 9 DVD that i play on my PS3, (They will not play on a standrad DVD player) Know my releatives would like a copy, but they don't have a blue ray player or a PS3.

Yes, Vegas can easily manage AVCHD to MPEG2 for DVD output.
Put AVCHD on timeline, render to NTSC DVD Widescreen.

You can also render to PAL.
The source footage doesn't matter, for the most part.
Put the MTS files on a PAL widescreen Vegas timeline, edit, and burn to the PAL widescreen MPEG template.
You can burn a PAL DVD in any DVD burner. The only place PAL becomes sticky (on the consumer side) in the USA is display and DVD player.
Most PAL DVD players also now play NTSC media just fine, although it's a lesser resolution than PAL.

You can give your relatives in Italy an NTSC DVD, for every player can manage both formats as well as the larger part of TV sets.

The difference between versions of Vegas is the amount of editing capabilities. DL a trial and check it out before hand with your footage.

Similar question... I have been editing approx 1 hour and rendered to NTSC DVD for distribution stateside. I need to send some copies to Europe.
Would it make sense (or is it possible) to just change the render format to PAL DVD then burn the DVD?
Spot is saying that the NTSC is a bit lower quality when viewed on PAL systems....
