Thanks for the hint ... was worth a try, but it doesn't do
near enough. Here are some facts:

My original .avi file (77 Mb) was 320x240 pixels, Indeo
video 5.07, 4 min 50.35 sec in length, 24 bits/pixel, 5807
frames, 20 frames per sec, data rate of 271 kB/sec. Audio
format: PCM, sample rate: 22.05, 16 bits/sample, 1 channel.

My new final .avi file, rendered after 37 minutes
using .avi and NTSC DV, is now 891 Mb, is 360x240 (WHY?),
has dsvd-unknown compression, is 4 min 0.16 sec in length,
24 bits/pixel, 14,393 frames (WOW! - How?), 30 frames per
sec, data rate of 3711 kB/sec. Audio format: PCM, sample
rate: 44.10, 16 bits/sample, 2 channels.

I've looked for ways to Save as Custom, as it states on
page 118 of my Video Factory user manual, but I simply have
none of the control options specified in the bottom half of
the page ... maybe I didn't get the correct program on CD
from which I installed.

Nearly tripling the no. of frames produced may well be part
of the problem. But I suspect that using the dsvd (unknown
compression) rather than the Indeo codec accounts for most
of this problem. How/where do I get the Indeo codec and
haw do I use it in Video Factory, since I seem to have no
ability to customize (although the manual says I do)?

I really need some help on this one, for even the 12-fold
increase in file size (as compared to 20-fold using no
compression) is not an acceptable option.

I am having the same problem. The manual talks about a "video tab" after selecting the "custom"
button when you want to customize a render, but I see no video tab, nor do I see a "compression"
button from which to choose a codec. Do I have a different version than the manual. This software is
useless if I can't choose frame rate, codec, etc. Whenever I render to .avi files, the rendered file is
about triple the size of the captured video.
If it helps, I use a Sony Hi-8 camcorder, and capture my video with a Pinnacle Studio DC-10 capture
card (MJPEG-[16]).
Please help!!!
