Hello everybody I am a newby and I have surely a stupid question.

I am trying to make a MPEG file from an AVI file so I can watch it on my DVD.
The AVI file...when I play it on windows media player or other is fine...It has sound...but when I put it on Vegas video I can watch it but I can't hear any sound...When I render it to a Mpeg File, the sound is also gone.

Does somebody knows Why?..I am guesing that vegas video can't reproduce and render an AVI file that contais both image and sound in one...am I right?

Please help.

Thank you

If you click on the avi file in explorer view, what streams does it report? The audio may be compressed with a codec that is not available to VV3.

Ok Chris

The Audio is Mp3 (stupid me) With a normal bit rate of 127 kbps

The video is compressed with angelportion codec with 23 frames pr sec. (that means that is a PAL system encoding isn't it? because I am in a PAL Country))

Ok is there an Mp3 plug in on VV3? Do I need something extra or could I use one external Mp3 decoder?...

Thank you .

mp3 audio inside an .avi is not supported in Vegas, so you'll need to extract the audio with another tool. You should be ok if it is extracted to a separate mp3, provided some sync issue doesn't arise.

You might be able to find a conversion utility of some kind at vcdhelp.com- the perfect place to find this kind of stuff.
