AVI not recognized

Sorry in advance for naive question -- but I've been unable to find this specific issue in previous posts.

Problem: Vegas 5.0 recogizes audio but not the video from an AVI clip -- Video "Stream attributes could not be determined"

Background: Clip is captured from VHS tape from SVHS VCR via SVideo cable using Virtual VCR using Huffyuv v2.1.1 codec.

Video and Audio are present using Windows Movie Maker, Windows Media Player, and WinDVD Creator.

GSpot v 2.21 shows the following:
Under Stream Type
- Type: OpenDML.avi
Under Video Codec
- 4CC: YUY2
- Name: YUV packed 4:2:2
- Stat: No Codec Needed

Is there something else I need to do to make the video visible? Do I need to provide any additional info?

Thanks.

that is not the huffyuv codec 4CC code ...

open avi in virtualdub or avisysnth and either frame serve it to vegas or re-render it as huffyuv (check "output as rgb") ..

or if you think it REALLY is a huffyuv file already -- change the 4CC code

Thanks.

Re-rendering it (and remembering to check off the "Use Compression" box) with Huffyuv fixed it.
