"Make Movie" using the "create a file on your hard disk" method to create a DV .avi file. Then launch the VidCap program (the same one you use for capturing from tape) and choose the "Print to tape" tab. This will let you select the DV .avi file from your hard drive and send it back to your MiniDV camcorder.

Thank you for the reply. I did as you mentioned, but the only control available is "Cue Device". The control "Record to Device" is greyed out???

Also on the bottom window "Exploring tapes" there is no abiltiy to go to the AVI file I want. It only lists past video clips that were "downloaded" from the camcorder.

I can't find any explaination on the help menu that addresses this either.

Make sure you have a blank tape in the camera. Make sure the RECORD is enabled on the tape. You may need to set your camera to VCR mode and not CAMERA mode.

I have done that, but there is still no ability to see or select the AVI file on the hard drive that I want to "Print to Tape". The "Exploring" window below only shows past downloaded tapes. It doesn't provide access to the hard drive.

Also the only control available is "Cue Device". The "Record to Device" is greyed out. Shouldn't that be the control that is used?

Thank you for your help.

Under VidCap's options, do you have "Enable DV device control" checked?

Yes

Yes that is checked. Any other thoughts?

Does your camera support DV in? If it's a European model it may not. How have you connected it to your PC - I don't know if print to tape works with anything but firewire.

I have Texas Instruments IEEE 1394 Firewire. I have downloaded to my PC a hundred times with lots of video editing on Movie Studio and before that Video Factory. However, I have never had the need or tried to copy back to the tape since I usually create a DVD from the AVI file.

The camera I use is a Sony DCR-VX2100 NTSC Handycam. Works great with no problems.

Any other thoughts?

May or may not be your issue, but the TI drivers can let you down some times.
