AVI track all black

I haven't used my Vegas Video 3 in a few weeks. I went to open some AVI files today and in everyone, the video track is black (as in no video). When I open open .mpg's, .wmv's, etc. the video track is fine. I tried to render an AVI as an mpeg to set what would happen, and the mpeg video ends up black as well. The sound is fine in all instances though. Does anyone have any idea?

Thanks!

Hi Randy,

Sounds like you lost your avi codec... did you install/remove any video apps?

You could try re-installing Vegas...

Thanks for your reply.
How would I go about reinstalling the AVI codec? I upgraded to Win Media Player 9, and also reinstalled Divx, but that didn't seem to make a difference.

Thanks again,

If you are using DivX 5, you will get this problem. This is the fault of the DivX codec. There is no workaround.

However, I was thinking if someone is able to fix up the open-source XviD, one could use that to open DivX files.
