Is there a way to view .avi files if if I upload to a directory as myfile.avi

Hmmm. What directory are you uploading to? Is this somewhere on your own hard drive? Or are you uploading to a web server somewhere? In either case, Windows Media Player should be able to play them, or you can open them in Video Factory. If you're uploading to a web server you might want to consider a compressed format such as WMV or RealMedia to make the files a lot smaller.
