Same issue with my video upload from my Canon ZR 20. I can add the video to Vegas but no audio will import with it. Is there a download that needs to be installed to make this work?
Assuming you captured your video using Vegas' capture software over a FireWire connection ---
Look at the timeline. Do you see the waveform on the audio tracks that would indicate there is sound, even if you don't hear it? Does the audio register when you play the video in the audio meter, to the right of the Preview window?
When you play your captured video in Windows Media Player, does it have audio?
I am having the same probelm , I can hear the audio when I preview the clip but when I put it in a project no audio no waveforms . There is no audio when I play in media player. I did check to make sure nothing was muted. in the properties for the clip it shows the following for the audio portion 44,100 mz 16bit stero umcompressed same time for as the video portion. very frustrated any ideas ?
I used a usb cable to bring it into my computer from my pana sonic PV-gs150. I have used this same set to importother video and the sound worked , that is why I am frstrated . The first time I brought it in the sound was garbled so I did tun off the preview adiuo in the SONY caprture program ? I hate to sound stupid but what is a codec
You should not be capturing miniDV footage over a USB connection.
If you capture your video over a FireWire connection, it will be 100% compatible with any PC or Mac-based video program. In fact, it's the ideal format for editing!
But USB capture creates a different kind of file with limited compatibility.
We have been trying to connect a Panasonic NV-GS180GC digital video camera via USB 2.0 to capture video and audio with Sony Vegas Movie Studio 11 HD Platinum
We have no audio on the preview or when imported into the project - no sound on audio line
Minimum system requirements show connectivity via USB 2.0
Are there any fixes to this that you can suggest ?
I'm not Steve, but to capture video from your GS180, you need to use the FireWire (IEEE1493 Digital Interface) connection. The USB connection is just meant for copying the pictures that your cam can take.
A FireWire cable should have come with your cam. You just need to make sure your PC has a FireWire card/port.
