I think vegas is highly underrated. Slowly but surely though I think it's catching on. Here is a cool video clip done completely in vegas. It's simple but effective. Most people think AF is needed to create an effect like this...
Looks like they took Andrew Kramer's tutorial from videocopilot.net and did it in Vegas. It would be a little more awkward to do in Vegas but looks like you can do it if thats all you have.
Just a Bezier and a garbage matte and careful planning of the shoot.
I should point out that this is nothing like bullet time in The Matrix though. That has camera moves and was done with a large number of DSCs around the talent suspended in a green screen cylinder.
Kris: Did you make that? I think it's excellent! Love it!
It appears to me that this could fairly easily be done in Vegas with Photoshop as the only additional tool.
Tell me if I'm right:
Guy's walking, stumbles, then freeze frame.
With that frozen frame, mask out everything in the frozen frame except the stumbling guy. Once you arrive at the masked stumbling guy masked image, CUT to the empty video background. Still have masked stumbling guy in the foreground. The guy walks into, then out of picture.
Seems to me that the background behind each of the guys must be frame-accurate identical.
Am I right?
Excellent concept!
As I tell folks, it is not always the execution of a concept that is difficult. They are often simple. The hard part is coming up with the concept in the first place.
Excellent!
P.S. Question: Why did you have video movement like as if the camera wasn't on a tripod? Showing off maybe? :) All done stationary, then add frame movement after completing the editing to look as if it wasn't on a tripod?
Kris: Any way you could post a WMV version of that so I could get a copy? I would have sent a private e-mail, but it doesn't look like your e-mail address is part of your profile.
take a snap as the prop falls make a png ar mask of the prop and you are done but if you panned slightly to the left during the walk
the effect is enhanced
good cam angle
thanks for the clip
