Background Looping

GigiGX wrote on 12/22/2022, 6:06 AM

Hi everyone !

So, i would like to make my image be animated diagonally, and then, once it reaches the end of the image, another image (actually the same) would beggan, as like the diagonal were infinite.

Is it possible without going through many copy/past ?
Since i was looking for this to be my animated background for a very long video (around 30min...)
Or at least, is there any effect or plug-in that can help me with that process ?

Thanks for your time !

An expert in scripting (@jetdv particularly) might have a solution for this, but with the copy/pasting approach:

  • copy/paste the original event = 2 events
  • then copy/pasting those 2 events = 4 events
  • then copy/pasting those 4 events = 8 events
  • and so on.

Or set it to loop and just drag the end of the video for as long as you need.

How ? Can i loop an image just like that ?

Yeah but that's my point...

At the end of the diagonal, there's some dark zones that appears, and i want my picture to be like a pattern that can repeat the image all along. Idk if that's possible but it seems i can't do it with a simple copy/past thing...

Under PREFERENCES>EDITING enable looping on events by default. Then when you extend the end of the event, it will automatically repeat.

Or set it to loop and just drag the end of the video for as long as you need.

This only works in cases where the source is already a perfectly looping clip. If they are starting with a still image of horizontal stripes, that doesn't help.

You don't have to keep copying and pasting once you've created one perfect loop, where you have 2 identical frames at different points on the timeline. So you make the image pan until it hits that point of perfect alignment. One way to help align it is to make a copy of the first frame on another track above, but have the composite level of that track faded to 50% so you can see through it (or lower, whatever you need, experiment with it). Then you can use that as a guide to find the frame on the bottom track later in the sequence that perfectly aligns with it, just keep shuttling through the timeline until the 2 frames align. Once you've made that perfect loop, trim off the rest past that point so it starts and ends on the same frame... but then cut one frame on the end, you actually want it to end on the frame before that perfect loop point, so when it returns to frame one, the loop completes.

render that clip to a new track, and loop it by clicking on the right side of the clip and dragging it out to the right. As it loops, you'll see a little notch in the top of the clip you dragged out indicating where each loop point is at.

Yeah exactly, but i would like it in diagonal, from top left to bottom right (with a 5° angle).
So i'll try what @fr0sty explain me before (hope i've understood it well...) and let you know guys if it's work !

Hello guys !

So i just tried the method that Frosty explained me earlier, and maybe i've not fully understand it, but that's what it makes for me :

As you can see, for filled up the side parts of the first pic, i have to modify the position of the next ones.
But if i do that, it makes another diagonal slide who's completly out of sync with the first one...

So, i know i could fixed that with a frame by frame position aligment but idk if it will follow the same direction after that, and that's pretty long for perhaps nothing...

EDIT : I was aslo asking myself, maybe you know if it's more easier on After Effect or Premiere, then maybe i could do it, and THEN looping it on Vegas... ?

Man, the way I showed it can be diagonal, horizontal, vertical, it can be rotating, any way
