backing up projects and making disc-to-disc copies

Does anyone have a straight-forward method of backing up either/both Vegas 4.0/DVD-A projects?

Also, when dealing with at least 2 projects at the same time, should I make a different folder for DVD-A to create the video and audio TS subfolders?

Thirdly, I got really bummed out when I downloaded/bought DVD-Xcopy to make disc to disc DVD copies and afterward found out it has a laundry-list of incompatible software (i.e. Roxio EzCDcreator, DLA based Verbatim RecordNowDX, RealAudio), so using that to do disc/disc copies of MY OWN projects is now out of the question. Any suggestions (hey, maybe some freeware? these things are getting expensive!)?

Anyone?
Thanks in advance!

See http://www.dvddecrypter.com/

Very helpful in making backup copies of your own DVD projects/compilations.

To back up Vegas projects, you need the .VEG file and any NON-Video segments (i.e. pictures, wave files...) the video can be recaptured from the original tapes. If you keep the VEG file that made the MPEG file, then for the DVD all you need is the DAR file. Otherwise, the include the MPEG file in the backup.

To copy a DVD, Just copy the Video_TS and Audio_TS folders back to your hard drive. Then DVDA can be used to create as many additional copies as needed.

I find myself making mostly VHS copies for people few DVD's for now. So I back everything up/master to dvd and then make my copies form the DVD to SVCR Use the s video cable even though making only vhs copies. This saves a lot of wear and tear and frees up my comuter and leaves me with a nice master that only costs a couple of bucks. If I need another DVd just imput the dvd I have and copy actually I haven't tried it yet but EZ cd creator 6 has a disk copy function that is supposed to work great for dvd's makes and exact copy.

Thanks for all the help!
One thing I found out the hard way: I upgraded to a 160Gbyte harddrive (had to partition just a bit to make one partition no bigger that 137G since I use WIN98se). Once upgraded the harddrive and moved my temp file folder to the larger partition, my Roxio EZ-CD creator didn't choke when making a disc to disc copy DVD copy! Amazing how more harddrive space can be an answer to a few problems.
(I originally had 2 - 40G harddrives, now those 2 plus the big one with a 33G partition and the balance in one big partition for rendering.) Again BIG thanks for the help!

No. You are making an exact digital copy.

BTW with my Sony burner I got some Veritas DVD copying software, no it'll only copy non CSSed disks but if you have a DVD reader and a burner it will do a disk to disk copy, in fact I believe if you have two burners it'll make two copies at once.

I think the burners all have to be the same model though.
