Backward compatibility

When I upgraded from Movie Studio Suite 14 to 15, I found edits I had created in 14 could not be read by 15, so I had to keep both versions. I am now considering upgrading again, but have a lot of edits created in 15, and do not want to have to keep three versions. Do the later versions of Movie Studio still have this issue?

Only if you used FX in the former that are not the same or total not in the latter.

The only reason an older version should not work with a newer version is if you had plugins installed on the older version that are not present in the newer version.

Actually I just checked and it was version 12 to version 14. V14 would not read the V12 files and no FX or plug ins were used.

Also, interested in comments from those who have upgraded from V14 to V?.. Was it worthwhile?

The compatibility problems you are seeing should not exist if you are upgrading to comparable products. VEGAS Movie Studio 14 files should be able to be read by VEGAS Movie Studio 15. VEGAS Movie Studio 14 Platinum files should be able to be read by VEGAS Movie Studio 15 Platinum. VEGAS Pro 14 files should be able to be read by VEGAS Pro 15. If there is a problem with these, then perhaps you are mixing products.
