Bad render quality

It sounds odd. The only thing that comes to mind is too low bitrate but you say you have customized it.

As Marco says, any further enquiry would really need your project file and screenshots of your render settings.

To everyone,

one mystery is solved. It seems that after i stabalized, the footage looked a bit weird, this was because of the cropping it applies when stabalizing. The second rendering i thought i removed the stablizing filter, but that should have been done through the tools menu witch i did'nt. Therefore the footage still looked bad since i overstabalized it the first time with 25% cropping. This also explanes the flaoting look it had.

After starting a new project and rendering it with the previous setting everything looked just fine!

But i do have a new question:

After some experimenting, i decided to try and render the footage in 25p. Coming from 50p it should not be a problem but i do get some fading in the rendered clip, any ideas on how to compensate for that?

By fading do you mean ghosting? If so disable resampling.

Personally I wouldn't go down from 50p to 25p. Any sideways movement that is close or fast will look jerky compared to 50p.

Yes i gues i do mean ghosting, but have concluded the button to deactivate resampling was removed since version 14? I gues the only thing to do would be to record studiomaterial witch i want to render in 25p, to also record it in 25p. This is a bit dissapointing since Corel Movie Studio ( "being the lesser software" ) had no trouble at all with this. This would be the price of going towards pro-editting software?

WHOOPS, my bad! Just found the "disable resampling" switch!

I will try it momentarily

The e-mail adress isn't wrong. I received and sent dozens of mails on the same adress since yesterday. But exchange via e-mail isn't a good choice anyway.

If you use a web hosting service you should not need to use e-mailing but could post the download link here in the forum so that others could participate, too. We all use such services to share projects and media in this forum.

Thank You Marco for your quick response to my cry for help.

Too bad that somehow i could not send you the requested data. However, you did help and that's something!

The current issues are resolved and i can noy confidently buy my copy! Thanx!

You mentioned you used 24 bit in Corel when talking about bitrates which makes me wonder if you are confused about bitrates. What is the bitrate of your source material? I expect it will be something like 40,000 Mbps. The Vegas MS render template for XAVC S doesn't provide adjustment of the bitrate but my experience is that it renders high. A quick test gave me an average bitrate with 1080 50p of nearly 60,000 Mbps.

Also you mentioned you are stabilising walking shots. That adds another dimension to the problem. Considerable cropping may be occurring and perhaps the Vegas Stabiliser isn't as effective as the one used in Corel?

Anyway we need the requested info to get to the bottom of your problem.

Youre correct regarding the Bitrates, though Vegas movie Studio does not allow ajustment to the rendertemplate of XAVC-S it does create a mutch larger file than Corel did, so i assume the Bitrate will be variable to the max!

I'm totally happy with it!
