Bar tone, slate and count down at the top

Hey guys,
It's been a while since I've done broadcast and I have a show about to go (at least) nationwide on RFD-TV.
I used to use a countdown/slate that (I believe) Spot made but can't find it. Are there any templates around that you guys know of ...as well as a 1 khz tone?
And is -12 db still the standard for tone? (I really hate to ask the station)

Thanks very much,
Randy

I have no knowledge about the level.

For the 1k tone you can get one here

For the countdown, here is one film leader I did for fun with Vegas (full HD 1080p, "Save As" is strongly recommended). I don't know if it suits your need.

Thanks lord,
The "template" I'm talking about had the slate and the countdown together where one just fills in the runtime, name of show etc.
I have another (dumb) question though.
They gave me a hard copy "general information" sheet that wants the tape log to include ins and outs for each segment.
Since this will be delivered on mini-DV (I used to submit on DVD) I'm guessing those in/out times are going to be including the time it takes to make the bar tone slate etc.
IOW the show is to be 4 segments (approximately 00:06:07 each) with three 10 second black sections for ads.
Let's say the first break did occur at 00:06:07 and I had 3 minutes of bar, tone etc prior to that. Would my in be listed as 3 minutes and my out be listed as 00:09:07 or do I disregard anything prior to the actual start of the show?
Thanks again,
Randy

Randy,

I have absolutely no idea about those broadcast requirements, sorry...

Randy,

Disregard any timing except the actual show. The rundown segment sheets should begin with the first frame of fade-up of a segment until the last frame of fade-out., etc. I worked in broadcast television for 13 years so I am quite familiar with this kind of thing.

That's kind of what I thought..I just started questioning myself when I was thinking about submitting on tape and them reading the timecode.
On second thought tough I guess it would be easy enough to reset the counter with the countdown.
Better safe than sorry though so thanks very much Erik.

As Erik says the program should start at some sensible timecode like 01:00:00;00. As far as I know you cannot write timecode values to DV tape, you need to switch to DVCAM for this. That's problem 1.
Problem 2 is getting Vegas to write the timecode :(

I *think* you can do this if you prestripe the tape.

Well they do accept mini DV tape so hopefully they won't be expecting it to be "sensible" : )
BTW Bob, I know you were around when some of these cowntdown/slate templates were floating around that users had made.
Do you remember the site that had a bunch of these kinds of .veg files for other users to download?
Thanks Bob,
Randy

All I recall is VASST ran a competition to make a countdown project. The entries might still be on their site.
At the time I had lamented the fact that Vegas lacks a stock leader. I've seen so many of the Avid ones over the years....

Thanks to you I found something that will work on the VASST site.
Thanks again amigo,
