Basic Bin Question

This has been a sore spot with me in Vegas but I think it is probably because I'm not doing something right. Let's say I've created lots of nice bins with various clips in each bin. Then I save the project under a different name. When I check my bins they are still there but ONLY the clips that have been used in the timeline are in the bins. The other clips are no longer there which forces me to reopen the old project in a separate instance and then copy the missing clips into the renamed project. What am I doing wrong?

Ok I did the shameless bump for once in my life. Anyone have the problem I described above?

Sorry Erik but I can't repro this.
I do this a lot and the bins always come back as expected.

Are you doing a "Save As" from the File menu? I do this alot and never have a problem. I also auto save using Excalibur with no problems. Sounds like you are saving using a different method that saves the project with the media.

Almost sounds like you are pressing the little "brush" on top of the bin area - which removes all unused media from the project.

Thanks for giving me the positive feedback that no one else is having this problem. I will do some testing on this again today and report back. The "lightning" icon that removes unused media, there is no undo for this right? My point is that for such a major change in the project's content, it seems that there should be a "are you sure" box. Don't remember seeing anything like that and I do remember one time that I accidentally clicked the lightning bolt.

Ok, that didn't take long. I see now there is an undo for removed unused media. I also see that when I save now it is keeping all the bins and video clips as expected. I can only conclude that I was accidentally hitting the "lightning bolt" icon and not knowing it! Then later I would check my bins and everything would be gone. Even though there is an undo, there is no warning and the fact that it is right beside the import button makes it a potential problem. One that could be remedied by a "are you sure?" Thanks again.
