Basic Question: Video quality switching in preview

Hi guys,

I tried searching the forum before posting. Does someone here have a moment? I am using Vegas Pro 10. I noticed that when I play a video, in the Video Preview Window, it is blurry. But when I pause the video it becomes clear.

Here is what seems to be the issue. When I pause the quality setting switches to "Best." But when I push play the quality setting switches to "Draft." Does someone have a moment that could tell me where to find the button or the option to sort of "lock in" the play quality to "Best."

I just need to make some lighting adjustments and I am presently unable to do so unless i can see the play back at the highest quality.

Thx u.

Right-mouse-button click in the preview window and DE-select "Adust Size and Quality for Optimal Playback".

Unless you turn it off, Vegas will step down the preview quality to maintain the frame rate.

This is one of those moments where you probably could have found the answer in the excellent built in help file.

Don't feel bad for asking though. Everyone has probably done the same thing at some point with one problem or another.

Actually this is one of these situations where i recommend trying clicking, right-mouse-clicking, shift-clicking, alt-clicking, ctrl-clicking .... etc. on every thing you can find on the screen, no matter how insignificant or empty it looks. There's a wealth of functions available in all sorts of pop-up context windows and menus. Explore!
