Basic Questions

Hi, I'm pretty new to the way things work in Vegas and I have some basic questions that I would like some help with.
1. When I make a copy of some text I am asked if I want to use the original or work on a copy of the material. Is there some way that I can stop this text box appearing everytime?
2. If I import a landscape photo it may take up the width of the screen, that's fine, but if I try to have 2 portrait images side by side I dont get to use the same screen width, why is this?
3. If I am grouping objects with the "Selection Tool" sometimes it automatically selects all tracks even if i dont want it to, sometimes it just selects the ones that I want. What am I doing wrong?
Thanks
Derm

1. No, I've ever seen the option to turn off the box. It gives you a choice, so it kinda has a purpose.

2. Not quite sure what you mean. Some photos are square, some rectangular. ?? .

3. This may help. The hotkey D will scroll through your cursors, and when you're on Selection, hold down the Left Mouse Button and click the Right Mouse Button which will let you go to Box, All Horizontal and then All Vertical selection.

#2 if you are refering to having two portrait images( one on one track the other on a second track) if you go to pan crop and deselect the maintian aspect box on the right you can enlarge the box the move it off to one side for one pic and the the oposite side for the other portrait shot.
If thats what you are trying to do.
