Not in Movie Studio afaik.
Scripting functions are included in Vegas Pro.

In fact, this is so simple, I'm surprised you've even involved Vegas Movie Studio in the process.

Why not just use Windows MovieMaker Live? It will pretty much do what you're asking -- and for free!

When VMS launches, the above the progress bar in the splash screen, it says "Initializing scripting..."

What's that? Internal scripting that is unavailable to the user? Crackable?

Scripts in Vegas are based on Microsoft .NET Framework. All versions of Vegas use .NET.
Some tools in VMS are command extensions (that available only in Pro version), for example Slideshow. So, technically, it is possible to run scripts in Studio versions. But there is no legal way to make them available in VMS.
