Batch Render questions

For the first time I have had to create proxy files for a project. The supplied files were QT H264, 1080p 23.97 and my computer just couldn't handle them on the timeline.

I used the Regions and Batch render to create mxf files.

I was surprised that the Regions batch render did not use the Region names for the files and only allowed for a Base name, which it then increments after it adds a filename descriptor.

Is this the way it works, or am I missing something? Is there a Free or cheap batch render that offers more control over filenames? I would really like it to match the original filenames.

Thanks for any help.

Not missing anything, that's the way it works.

I believe the Production Assistant offers more file name control for batch renders-but I have never used it.

Altarvic,

That is the thread where I found out about using the batch render. The proxystream script page gives no information on what it does or does not do differently.

Have you used it?

I didn't use it. I think Rosebud (the creator of Proxy Stream) can answer your questions. Transcoder from Vegasaur toolkit provides powerful naming capabilities, you can try it for free.

More infos about Proxy Stream here.
It's a free tool and I don't claim it's powerfull as a commercial product (like Vegasaur or Product Assistant).

Ultimate-S from VASST will batch render using region names for file names. It isn't free but it's one of the most useful utilities I have for Vegas.
