Batch renders of Vegas files

For multitrack audio (48 kHz 24-bit) post-production I've been using Vegas 3. (I have Vegas 4, but I have gone back to 3 because 4 has an audio stutter problem with audio projects with many tracks. That may become a non-issue when I move to a new workstation with more horsepower.)

So right now this is a Vegas 3 question.

Each of some 45 selections is a separate Vegas .VEG file. What I would like to speed up is the final process of Rendering the individual Vegas files to the 44.1 kHz 16-bit files. Right now I go back and open each Vegas file and have to sit there while each one renders. Because these are multi-track and have a variety of plug-ins at both the bus and track level and lots of stuff going on, this render can take a while. What I would like to be able to do is batch or automate this step. Something like the Batch Convertor, but where it calls Vegas in the backgeround.

Any suggestions. Right now I just have something handy to read between file loads and renders :-) Also, is there anything, like the scripting, in Vegas 4 that might be of use?

Thanks much.

Wayne

You can open multiple instances of Vegas, I do this a lot for video rendering. It doesn't make the sum of the parts go any faster but it does mean I can forget about it for a while while I do something else.

I suppose there's no reason why you couldn't use automation to do it although I'm not too certain how much of Vegas's methods are exposed.

If you do decide to upgrade to Vegas 4 there are several scripts available that can do what you want.
