BatchRender?

[r]Evolution wrote on 4/21/2005, 2:18 PM
Still no word on a BatchRender script that will allow you to add multiple projects rendering to different outputs?

I know BatchrenderPro did this in V5 but it hangs in V6. Anyone know of any other utilities that will do this type of BatchRender?

I'm sure BatchRenderPro for V6 will be available shortly but I'd like to check out other apps too if they are available.

Try Veggie Toolkit. There is a VERY powerful batch renderer in there called MultiRender. Infos at www.peachrock.com

I looked at this but it is more than I want to spend - seeing as how I will have no use for most of the other features - maybe this will help you.
Roger(?) at Batchrender Pro says he is working on V6 - I will wait for that
On the other hand I can't believe 1. that Vegas does not provide this and 2. that I don't notice more pressure for it here...

Why re-invent the wheel?

'Why re-invent the wheel?'

To make it lighter, prettier, more functional, because others like other styles of 'wheels', (put your reason here), etc...
Notice, your car does not have a Wagon Wheel on it. Or does it?

Here's what I got back from Roger Magnusson:

Q:
I know you've been asked this time and time again recently but I haven't seen an answer posted anywhere yet.

Is there a Batchrender Pro version that will work with VEGAS 6?
Are there special instructions to get the current version up and going with V6?
Any plans to have a version that will work w/ V6?

A:
My ambition is to have it up and running before next week. I haven't had time for Vegas lately, but hopefully that will change within the next few months.

Personally... I like the way Roger's wheel was invented. It rolls very smooth.

I have almost a dozen batch render scripts kicking around (I have hundreds of scripts that I've collected). I certainly have one that will take all the VEG files in a directory and render them using some hard-wired templates. Is that what you want?

Me too. Which is why I have a license for it and why I'd rather the Sony team spend their time and energies tightening up Vegas or adding greater functionality outside what's already offered by the scripting pros. 'Sides, if Vegas starts incorporating every great script idea into the UI, what would people like Roger busy themselves with? Where would there be room for the community to flourish?

Johnmeyer,

Can any of those scripts that you have for Batch Rendering a folder of .veg files be used to frameserve a folder of .veg files? If so, I would surely love to get a hold of one.

For the first time in almost a year, I needed to render a whole bunch of VEG projects to DV AVI. The script works perfectly.

However, for frameserving, no batch script is going to work because there is no way for Vegas or the script to know when the external application (the one that is requesting each frame from the frameserver) is finished. In other words, Vegas is not in control; it is a passive server. The basic concept just doesn't work. Sorry.

The Script I'm looking for does exactly that johnmeyer... renders many different .veg files to different media types.

For each project I do theres an mpeg1 that is rendered for CD and a AVI that is also rendered for archivng, DVD, and anything else that comes up unexpectedly. Also sometimes I'm asked to render to non-standard sizes alongside these normal renders. It's nice to be able to work during the day, then set up a Batchrender and go home knowing that when you come in the morning you will have rendered files. Really helps a lot.

Batchrender Pro is awesome because it allows you to point to many different .veg files no matter their location and render them to as many different formats as you need. I need this because I work off servers that are attatched to our network and all of our clients are in different locations on those servers depending on who/what they are. I definitely don't want to have to move them all to a 'watch folder' for rendering. Waaay too much work.

I need the script to be able to work the way I already do and read files from my already existing server structure. Batchrender Pro does exactly that. It works with what you have and doesn't ask you to change a single thing.

I've tried many Batchrender scripts but none seem to go with my workflow the way Batchrender Pro does. Honestly, if I had been asked to pay $150 for this... I would have because I use it everyday. It's cool that it's only $15.

Lamont - where can I take a look at that script for V5?
rcampbel wrote on 4/22/2005, 7:09 PM
Lamont,

I don't know if you have looked at MultiRender in the Veggie Toolkit, but it is supported for Vegas 4, 5, and 6 and will render multiple anything to anything. It will also render folders of .veg or other media files to any output format that you like (no frameserving support however).

If you have tried it and don't like it, I would appreciate it if you would let me know why. If you haven't tried it, please take a look. You can use it fully functional for 15 days for free.

If you like it, it costs much less than the $150 that you would be willing to spend.

Thanks,

Randall

Johnmeyer,

Yeah....I found that out trying the veggie toolkit trial. Main Concept standalone just sits there waiting for the "convert" button to be pushed. Oh well!

Batchrender Pro for Vegas 6.0 is now available for download from www.rmtools.se.

I'm thinking that since the veggie toolkit batch render looks pretty complete (I haven't tried it, just looked at the specs) I should focus on other utilities for Vegas. Hopefully I will have more free time to spend on that this summer.

Is this working for you guys in Vegas 6?

In my script menu I have:
www.rmtools.se --> BatchrenderPro 1.2

about:
Batchrender Pro 1.2 for Vegas 6.0/.NET 1.1 2005-04-23

It will open and render the first project in the batch list... but then hangs directly after render. No other projects get rendered after the first project because Vegas 6/ Batchrender Pro 1.2 are Not Responding. The first project file render is complete but nothing happens after that. I let it sit over night hoping that it would cough up whatever was clogging it but still nothing.

I installed into the default directory --C:\Program Files\Batchrender Pro

I second the peachrock.com product. I too have little use for the other plugins included but the batch renderer is amazing, very solid, well written ... important when you think of it. You need to 'walk away' from a massive render job you need the confidence of knowing the render/app is stable.

I guess it's off to www.peachrock.com

I absolutely love the simplictiy of Batchrender Pro 1.2... but I need something that works. Roger is a busy guy and admits he will be using his time on things other than Batchrender Pro. Ouch!

Would rather use Batchrender Pro as I don't have a use for all the other functions of the peachrock product... but I do need something that works.

Why this isn't a part of V6 natively is puzzling. Is this not something people do with projects? - render to multiple output settings.

I've got an eMail in to Roger right now. I'll post his findings.

Lamont_Dennis - did you ever hear back about a fix or update for Batchrender Pro? It appears the website listed has gone by the wayside.

Main Concept stand-alone MPG2 encoder does do batch (MPG2) rendering in and of itself.
