BCC Optical Diffusion install

GARY-WEAVER wrote on 12/7/2020, 10:18 AM

I upgraded to Vegas 18 Suite and the 3 BCC added plugins seem to have been installed and licensed correctly. The Optical Diffusion seemed to install OK and the license registered. I don't see the plug in listed in Video Effects. I did not choose to uninstall unlicensed plugins but I don't see one for the Optical Diffusion.

If you are looking for it in the Video FX tab, sorry, you won't see it there.

Yeah, I think the way they display the plugins in VP18 is not good as it was in previous versions where you would have folders.

BCC Optical Diffusion has several plugins. In order to see that "folder", at the top of Vegas, go to View>Window>Plugin Manager. Make sure you checkmark it.

You will now see another tab. See screenshot below. Or... if you click on the fx (Video Event FX) on your clip on the timeline, then add to the plugin chain (the green fx). Second screenshot.

I don't see BCC Optical Diffusion in my Plugin list but all the individual effects are listed, e.g. BCC+DoubleFog. So guess I'm OK. Thanks.

Optical Diffusion is the name of the BCC Unit (package) that contains 12 filters:

  • Center Spot, Depth of Field, Diffusion, Double Fog, Fog, Frost, Halo, Mist, Net, Rack Focus, Silk, Split Field

https://borisfx.com/products/continuum-units/optical-diffusion/?collection=continuum-units&product=continuum-units-optical-diffusion

Unfortunately, the folder name of 3rd party plugin packages such as BCC Optical Diffusion no longer appears in the Video FX window in Vegas Pro 18. However, you can filter the Video FX window to display just the 3rd party plugins by clicking on the 'Third Party' tab at the top of the Video FX window.

@Reyfox @Dexcon Why don't official guys turn plugin window back to VP17 style?😂

Reyfox wrote on 12/10/2020, 5:45 AM

@rock-c I do not understand why Vegas elected to show FX this way without having folders. After years of having it one way, now, at least for me, it's counter productive to have to scroll through everything in hopes of finding what you want unless it's saved as a "favorite". Especially if you have something like Continuum, Sapphire, Ignite Pro, etc. installed.

Yes, there are "other" ways to see everything in a proper folder structure (Plugin Manager, Event FX), but why not have the "new" (really old VMS) way as an option??

I also have Vegas Movie Studio 16, and what made me uninstall it was the way it showed all the plugins. Hated it.

Why not put your suggestion on the VP19 suggestion post:

I found out that not only was I missing the Optical Diffusion plugin, but the plugins labelled "BBC+" did not show any effect preview and when I dragged one on to an event, the wrong BCC plugin loaded! The Vegas plugins and those labelled "BCC" worked fine. I contacted BorisFX. I did a complete uninstall and deactivate of Continuum per BorisFX tech support. I now have everything working fine, but as indicated above no folders. Not personally a big deal. I expect to use the new "Favorites" most of the time.

Reyfox wrote on 12/14/2020, 6:19 AM

The "folder" would be visible in Plugin Manager and Event FX, not in Video FX tab in the main window.
