Best Audio Format?

Ok, I "rip" tracks from CDs to use in my home DVD movies. I use Microsoft Windows Media Player to extract the audio files. My question is what is the best audio format for songs I plan to drag and drop into one of my Movie Studio projects that will ultimatly be burned to DVD using DVD Architect?

ps. I SWEAR this is my last question for the day :-)

Actually, better than converting to WAV, rip them to WAV to begin with.

Sorry to offtrack this a little.
Just wondering if I ripped it the Audio CD to MP3 and dropped the MP3 into the timeline and later output to MPEG1 / MPEG2.
Is there is really appreciable quality drop in Music and Sound?

I have been using ScreenBlast 3.0, upgraded to Vegas Movie Studio 4.
But my audio has been always 'lacking' I find... there is sound but no like coming from the TV channels.
I am hesitant to move to VEGAS 5.0 where you can get 5.1 sound effects due to the high cost, but am willing to try anything else.
Most of my Audio CDs have been ripped to MP3, for easier storage on the HDD (saves a lot of space).

So is my 'poor' audio due to the audio files being MP3?

Using MP3's will definitely result in lesser audio quality. But the difference can be subtle and difficult to detect.

What you describe ("sound but not like from the TV channels") might be something different. Is it simply a matter of the volume of the audio track? Or is it a matter of sound quality (distorted highs/lows/fuzzy details)?

Well its like I can watch my Tele, then switch on my DVD player insert the DVD disk, play the video.

The music and sound would be like a 'distant' compared to the TV audio I was watching. Kindof like you hear music played behind your back and it is not absolutely clear and resounding.

Kind of hard to really describe the feeling but it is defintely not what I am used to when watching tele.
