Best Camcorder to purchase

I use Vegas for personal use. Mainly creating DVD for my kids and thier sports. I usually do team videos for the end of the season to give to the other parents. With this, I need a new cam corder. I currently use Sony DCR-HC21 NTSC. I really would like a new HD cam corder, but I need to make sure that I get good quality on zoom, along with other new features. My child plays in the outfield (why zooming is important to me).

What would be the best cam corder to purchase? I don't know a lot about what to look for. I am a ametuer at this. But I love doing it. So any advice would be very helpful.

Take a look at the Canon HV20 or HV30... You can pick up a HV20 very cheap (under $600) as they are now discontinued but still excellent cams. I think you might find that distributing your finished product to other little league parents or family might be the bottle neck you face as of today.. Blue Ray burners and players are still expensive.... But I think you'll be amazed at the quality when you plug your video camera into your HD tv.. I know I was blown away.. Good luck.

Thank you! So can I ask another amatuer question..

When you purchaste the HD camera, this quality of the picture that you put to vegas and create DVD is not better? Is the only way you get the better quality is through the blue ray?
