Best format for DVD

I am using Movie Studio Platinum. I use mostly still images from my camera to make movies (slide shows). My images are very sharp when viewed in my phot editing software, or when printed.

When I render into a dvd, they appear fuzzy on the tv when watching the movie.

Can anyone advise me on what setting I may be messing up when rendering that would cause this?

Thanks,

Well, first tell us more about these images.

What format? What size? What resolution? And how are you adding them to the project?

As a start, don't forget that DVD resolution (assuming NTSC) is only 720 pixels by 480 pixels (PAL is 720x576, I think). That amounts to about a 0.35 megapixel still image (i.e. 1/3 of a megapixel).

So if you are starting with a 5 MP original, you are bound to lose a lot of sharpness and detail by the time it appears on your TV. But all std def DVD's are like this -- have the same limitation.

But regardless, post more details -- maybe something else is going on.

I have a Canon S2 IS - 5mp camera. The photos are jpeg format and I pull the photos into the project through the "explorer" window within Vegas.

I'm at work right now, so I can't check the resolution and size, but I'm pretty sure that I use the Large Size (2592 x 1944) at superfine resolution.

Does that help?
