Best media to use?

Hey Guys,

I just need some advice. I've taken a break (1.5 year break) from video editing and am getting back into it now. I typically make short videos (weddings, promotional, events...mix of stills and video)...usually a max of 20 mins of edited video on each DVD. I typically use 8X Taiyo Yuden TYG02 to burn my projects on, but am almost out. So I just thought I'd ask you guys...Is that still one of the best out there? Anything better? Any recommendations?

Thanks for sharing!
Leslie

Taiyo Yuden, Verbatim and Ritek are the ones I see come up a lot when people ask about quality media.

TY are still the best although I haven't been able to get the 8x for a long time. I use the 16x mastering stock and burn at 8x.

For archiving I use MAM Gold media, rather expensive so use it only for things you really want to be able to read in a few decades or centuries.

Verbatim 94854.

I have used tons of them with no problems. People have reported back to me that these discs work in their players where others would not.

TY watershield discs.
They look gorgeous after printing :-)

Obviously one is limited on availability, but here is my preference when choosing.

TY (ok print surface / watershield has excellent print quality though)
Verbatim (are more readily available locally)
Ritek (good print quality - least expensive)

In general I have not had playbility issues with any of these brands.

Chad
