1.346V is a bit high for 4.1GHz, I get the same at 4.3GHz. Your temps should not go over 70-75C with this voltage and clock speed. Are you sure the H60 pump/water block is seated properly? The hoses should be more then hand warm, around 40C. If not, the pump/water block doesn't sit properly on the CPU.
Don't use the supplied thermal compound, clean to off and use Arctic Silver. The pump should always run at full RPM and the fan is then controlled by the CPU temp.

Is there a way to reduce the voltage? Also CPU-Z is showing as 1.312V, why such a difference?

I will have to wait until next week to order the H100i as I am leaving out of town this evening. Are there specific fans I want to get for this? Do they have to be powerful and loud? I think I have 2x120mm fans at the top of the case already.

I am not sure of the point of reseating the H60 if it will be replaced soon. It has lasted me close to 3 years, so I don't see any issues waiting for one more week. It WAS honestly the first CPU cooler I have ever installed myself, so I wouldn't doubt it may not have been the best installation.

Once I set CPU to max load, CPU-Z shows 1.296V whinfo64 shows 1.35V

EDIT: Wait, I see 2 different areas in HWINFO64. Core #X VID is what is showing 1.35V. Vcore matches the CPU-Z voltage.

So the voltages are the same, good. You can set the voltage lower but that requires to go deeper into OC. If you can wait for the bigger cooler then sure, wait for it. The fans that come with the H100i should be sufficient and not too loud either. If you want even better cooling then you have to go for a custom water cooling solution, I bought my stuff from FrozenCPU. I would setup the H100i fans to blow out of the case and have the rear fan to blow cool air into the case.

Microcenter has this available for pickup today. Would it be worth a shot or wait for the 100i?

Thank you again and again for your help.

Never seen this kind of cooler before; cant say much about it. I would wait for the H100i or H100i GTX.

Don't know much about the 390X yet but I might try one. I think I mentioned in an earlier post; 4track multicam editing is very drive intensive. You are literarily pulling 4x 4K streams at the same time from the hard drive. That is a huge amount of data flowing and we may well hit the max the drive and interface can deliver.

I am looking at the 390x more for when i start diving into CC and better framerates there.

For multi camera, once I learned to set vegas to use proxies, I am having zero framerate issues editing 4 of the 4k cameras at full quality under the "Preview" tab. Even using the GTX 680. Once you go to the "Good" or "Best" tabs then it starts playing from the original XAVCS 100MB/s file. SO what I plan on doing is using the proxies for multi camera cutting and then go back to the Good or Best tabs for CC.

I read the 390X 8GB review and I think a 290X will do just fine even for 4K. Keep in mind that the R9 390X doesn't have HDMI 2.0 if you want to preview on a 4K TV at higher then 30fps.

There will be plenty of 290X on eBay soon.

95% of my shooting is 24p. I don't even think the cameras can shoot 4k higher than 30p. For gaming? Maybe... But display ports go higher I thought. My 3rd monitor is a 4k monitor, but I rarely turn it on 4k resolution. It was not quite what I hoped for, but alas I am stuck with it (I will get to those reasons after I get my system all oiled up). As far as editing, if I cant see things in focus at 1080p, then I need a new set of eyes!
OldSmoke wrote on 7/1/2015, 12:26 PM
4K 24p is a bit easier then 30p. Anyways, let us know how the H100i works out. You should be able to get up to 4.3GHz with it. My CPU core voltage at 4.3GHz is actually 1.366V; slightly higher then yours at 4.1GHz and temps are below 70C at full load.

Went to Microcenter, they had the H110i GTs in stock (140mm fans). Picked one up, going to install. Also splurged on a R9 390x and some extra 140mm fans. I am horrible when I walk into that place...

Quick question, for the "Turbo Ratio" I entered in the bios, can I assume that 41=4100MHz? Or is that just coincidence? Curious in case I start increasing the speed later this evening.

The H110i GT is installed. I shall call it the super custom stick my tongue out at the PC gods installation. I was assured at Microcenter it would fit my case. Sure I can put 3 140mm fans at the top in the inside, but after I went though the hassle of installing the heat sink, I realize that putting the radiator AND fans will not work, the top power connector to my motherboad gets in the way by about 1 millimeter. 1 stinkin millimeter. I think if I did the 100i it may have worked with the 120mm fans, but Microcenter is now closed and I leave on vacation tomorrow evening. The last thing I want on my mind on vacation is worrying about my PC.

Luckily instead of a grate at the top of the Cosmos II, there are giant gaping holes if you remove the top of the shell (there also would have been room under the top of the shell to install 2 more 140mm fans for push/pull). It took me a half hour of banging my head on the wall hating myself before I thought to give it a try. I removed the heat sink and moved the entire unit on top of the case and threaded the heat sink and water hoses through. The radiator and 4 fans are now resting on top of the case, but what can I do? I could exchange it, but I think I will let it be.

It has now been running for 32 minutes at full load. I have it set for 4.1 Ghz per the settings you listed earlier.

Max temp is 56C, Average is 52.8C, and every time I look at it the temp is 50-52C. I have the fans blowing "in" to the case at the moment.

I am going to run and make up some dinner as I let this run for a while longer, then I will install the 390X.

If I start increasing the CPU, are the turbo ratio cores the only values I need to change?

You have helped me out immensly so far, and I have learned a lot. Thank you.
OldSmoke wrote on 7/1/2015, 11:30 PM
Turbo ratio should be all you need to do. Good temps! Go straight for 4.3GHz and check temps and voltage. Let us know how the 390X is doing!

Having issues installing R9 380x

I went to AMD downloaded latest catalys manager. When I go to install after about a minute screens go blank. So I let them sit for about 10 minuets, and still black.

I restart, once it starts to load windows screen goes black again.

I restart again I get error that overclocking has failed. I load the default settings, it gets to windows loading, screens go black. No other errors, no nothing.

I put GTX 680 back in so I can uninstall Catalyst. I pt 390x back in, repeat process and screen goes black.

Back on the 680, and uninstalled everything. Guess I will throw in the CD for drivers and try that, but usually that is something you should never do.

I will update again.

UPDATE: Drivers on DVD were fine and appear to be newer than the drivers I found online. Weird... Maybe it is a whole new system and I wasn't paying attention. It has been an exhausting few days, and my mind is fried. Will try OC again tomorrow and see how Vegas runs. The 2 minutes I just used id had zero issue.

Temps look good, you might get 4.4 or even 4.5 out of your system. Make sure the CPU voltage stays below 1.4V.

To be honest, I am still a fan of Nvidia cards because their drivers and installer is better. I only changed to AMD because of the better performance in Vegas.
