Render As .WAV at the same bit rate and bit depth as your original recording.

Since I recorded at 48kHz, 16 bit I rendered to 48kHz, 16 bit.

Some people record at higher bit rates and bit depths than the final delivery if they plan to process the audio extensively but that philosophy is questionable if the final delivery will be lossy, anyway.

If you are doing a lot of audio processing on the audio tracks I would go with 24bit audio .wav files. But stick with the 48kHz sample rate.

To save time importing the rendered audio file back in, you render it to a new track (tools menu). Yes, render a PCM (.wav) file for sure,16 or 24 bits. Lossy formats, (MP3, AAC, ect.) should just be used for final delivery, if a specific format is needed . Otherwise use the uncompressed PCM format (WAVE or AIFF).
